Middle School Success is a program started by the United Way of Asheville in partnership with Asheville City School and Buncombe County Schools. As part of this program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina provides mentoring interventions in school for recommended students through volunteers. Analyzing data gathered through the early warning response system (EWRS) platform Learning Circle, students' grades, attendance, and behavior will be used to evaluate the impact of these interventions. Looking at the educational outcomes for youth after being paired with one-on-one mentor, this study will enable us to know if mentoring makes no difference, a positive difference, or a negative difference. This data will allow Big Brothers Big Sisters to evaluate the impact of their program and make adjustments to the nature of interventions provided, if necessary, to better serve student populations.
